My name is Brian Maciejko, and I can finally say I love what I do.
Like most people, I grew up with a lot of ideas about where life might take me. I followed a traditional path—university, earning my BSc and eventually my MSc in molecular genetics. But after exploring different career options, I realized I was being pulled in a different direction.
Part of that shift was intentional. Part of it came from a moment that forced me to reevaluate everything—a car accident and head injury that made me take a hard look at what I wanted my life to be. It pushed me to focus on what truly mattered.
For me, that’s always been skiing.
I started skiing at five years old, thanks to my dad, who made sure we never missed a lesson. What started as the thrill of speeding down a hill quickly grew into something more—school trips, mountain adventures with friends, and now sharing those same experiences with my own kids. Over time, skiing became more than a sport. It became the place I feel most at home. That passion naturally evolved into a deep curiosity about the skis themselves—how they’re built, how they perform, and what makes one ski feel completely different from another.
I became obsessed with the craft. After countless hours of research, hands-on learning, and conversations with others in the industry, I committed fully to building custom skis. I trained in manufacturing techniques developed in Austria and continue to refine my process, constantly experimenting with materials, construction, and design to improve performance. Every ski I build is the result of that process—and a collaboration. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all. Your skiing style, terrain, and preferences matter.
My goal is to work closely with you to design and build a ski that’s truly yours—something you won’t find on a rack in a big box store, but something built with intention, precision, and purpose.
At the end of the day, I’m here to help you get more out of your time on the mountain.
And if we build something great together at EMBR Custom Skis—and make a few friendships along the way—even better.
Thank you, and I wish you the best skiing in the future!
